Cambodia Conversations May 24
Thanks for your prayers and participation for/in last weeks MST Project ministry here in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. We had some good conversations but we know that what is going on in the spiritual realms is even more significant than what we could see:
- An American man who worked as a consultant with the UN. He had come down for a few beers but after a while really opened up to John about religion. John invited him to have enough faith the size of a mustard seed to believe. Let us pray that he does and God will speak to him.
- A man from Cameroon. He got excited when we said we were a church group and said "it's time I got back into that" .

Official Launch in Phnom Penh - Part 2 May 19
Arriving at the cafe where we’ll have a time of food and fellowship together before returning to the upper rooms of ‘Chab Dai’ for a deeper time of spiritual preparation, I instantly sensed strong bonds having already been built with some that I had met during our trial run with MST Project in early March, and new comers who came to join us for this our first official outreach of the new MST Project Cambodia. The bonds were formed in part because of the one ideal that we all share in common; to lessen and if possible; eliminate all together the need for Cambodia’s women and girls (boys too) to work as prostitutes on the streets and brothels of Phnom Penh, by reaching out to men who are otherwise despised by most, with the gospel of Christ.

A Broken Marriage - Follow Up May 18
Here we were, at least two hours late, waiting to meet a man who seemed persistent to meet us again. Months before he had met us in front of Nana Plaza, and just last week he saw us again. Both times he wanted to stop and talk, and both times he took our survey. Now, he was calling us to arrange a meeting as soon as he could, and with the way things were going that sooner was becoming later.
The Bangkok traffic proved formidable in light of the political situation, so we arrived at the prayer center late. His text message came in saying that he was in the Nana area, at a restaurant waiting. Then it took us a while to get out the door. But checking the phone, our contact was still at the same restaurant.
So we started walking down the street; two others and myself.

A Broken Marriage May 17
When we met David (not his real name) late on a Wednesday night in Bangkok’s red light district; he was quietly making his way through the crowds of people. We politely asked him if he would be interested in taking our survey to which he quickly answered, “Are you the guys with the black packets?” This was a perfect lead into our second-encounter survey! This began a 20-minute conversation between our group and this wounded man. David is married to a woman back in Europe and the father of a young girl. He has a troubled and distant marriage.

Official Launch in Phnom Penh May 8
I flew out to Phnom Penh for the first night of ministry in the city. I was excited to be back in the country, and excited to see once again what MST Project outreach was to look like in a completely different context. My job was to watch and ensure that the guys in Phnom Penh had a hold of the reins before, during, and after ministry.
In Cambodia, before each night of ministry, the volunteers of the project head to a restaurant to share a meal. Glenn, the man whom I was staying with, was telling me that seven people had signed up for the night by e-mail. He proceeded to explain how this would allow for one group to be on the street and one group to be in the prayer center.

A Piece of the Puzzle May 7
We spoke with a young man in a red light district in Bangkok. Although he wasn't into the services being offered he told us that he fell into one encounter before. After meeting a cute girl in a bar and having a one night stand with her, the girl surprised him by asking money the next morning. After we spoke to him some more he seemed to be a confused individual, morally, spiritually and on a relational level. We talked about spirituality and he said that he wanted to take something of every religion and not be stuck to one. One of the reasons why was because of the hurt his family had received from Christians.

Reaching Out From My Own Brokenness & Healing May 6
I was sexually abused as a child. I had blocked it out for years, but one day, the light came on and here is what God did, is doing, and I am free...
I became a mom at 17. I then married at 19, and was a mom of three (twins) by 20. My abusive marriage ended after five years, and I was still broken, confused about what love was. I met a man, who I fell in love with, and today, so many years later, I now see the pieces of the puzzle fitting together. "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28
This was my first time (physically) in Bangkok. BUT, I have heard of places like this...I had heard about them, from someone I loved, who was a sex addict.
