• Carry On May 17

I went to ministry last Friday feeling very fatigued. The past two night’s sleep were awful and in the past 3 days I had two bus journeys that were both over 8 hours long. However, I have made a commitment to the ministry here and to the men in the red light district so I wanted to be there.

We met up and prayed – I believe all of us were exhausted, and pretty much burned out. One brother encouraged us that when we all feel like this, it’s probably because we’re doing something right, something really right! Thus, the reason we’re feeling so exhausted and burned out lately.

We had a good prayer session and I led the teams as we went out to our ministry location.

  • Rubik’s Cube Apr 04

I recently bought a Rubik’s Cube. Mainly so I have something to do while my wife catches up on her introvert time or for those long Cambodia bus journeys. There’s two ways to solve a Rubik’s Cube; one is to peel the stickers off and cheat, the other is to toil over the thing until you learn how to do it correctly.

I think it’s like that with our Christian lives. We can cheat ourselves by peeling the stickers off and putting them in the right places so the world thinks we’re all set and good. The alternative is to do some toiling of our own.

  • A Night of Conversation Mar 25

So this was my first night back after about 2 months off because of illness, visitors and other excuses. I arrived at the fellowship time and there was a ton of guys from a mission team. It is always great to have them with us and to see where they’re from (and headed to!). We had time of worship and went into accountability time. We had a great time, praying and lifting each other up. Messages of prophecy and encouragement where flying back and forth. We went out onto the streets and I was buzzing with excitement. I texted my wife to say so. She replied with ‘I guess a lot of guys are excited in the red light district!’ – Great choice of words!

Once we got down the street we started to look for someone to talk with.

  • Where Is True Love? Jan 23

Last Friday we went out on our usual jaunt to the red light areas to talk to men. Some nights there seem to be a 'theme' and that night the focus was on how prostitutes were liars and cheaters. A tall young good looking guy full of energy passed us several times. After he passed us the third time in the street (each time we had said hi!) he came back and asked if we were the self proclaimed greeters for that particular street! We laughed but it opened up the conversation. He said that he 'had to leave in a hurry... ' but he still stayed and talked to us for about 45 minutes.

It became apparent very quickly that his heart had been broken by a young prostitute and he was furious. Unlike many men that visit this area, this man knew what was going on.

  • Seeds Will Grow Dec 28

My first experience with MST Project was filled with divine appointments and fruitful conversations. I really enjoyed talking to the men out on the streets in the red light district. The majority of the people we talked to were very lonely and just wanted someone to talk to. Making small talk eventually led to the reasons behind why we were there. The conversations we had with people were very interesting. God gave me His heart for the men that were looking for something they couldn't find in the red light district. We were able to plant seeds and give them attention, but what they had a void that only Christ could fill. We showed Christ’s love to them, and I believe God will make those seeds grow.
