Part
of the vision of the MST Project is to see the love of Christ shared in
red-light districts around the world. Our first step in seeing this
vision become reality happened last week in Cambodia. We presented our
ministry before the Chab Dai Coalition (www.chabdai.org), which is a
partnership of 40+ Christian ministries working together to end sexual
abuse and trafficking. We were asked to conduct a training seminar
where we were able to share the vision of the MST Project and present
our method of outreach in Thailand, and how that method can be
transferred to fit within the unique situations found in Cambodia. One
man at the training seminar speaks of the night,
“The whole day and evening was one of the deepest spiritual experiences
I've had in some time, as we prepared to meet the brokenhearted men...
We had so many missionaries interested in the project, all who are
already busy with their other ministries, that we split into 3 groups.
Two groups went out, and one stayed behind to pray for the needs that
the outreach groups texted back to them…
“When we went out, arriving in the center of the ' red light' district,
we set up a table, with a sign on the front that had just a big
question mark on it. The men, for whom we were sent to minister to,
approached the table in droves. Many opened up about personal life
experiences that had brought them there, and most left with special
packets prepared by the MST Project, with information on how they can
find real love, instead of the temporary feeling of love that comes
from encounters with prostitutes.
“There is a follow up meeting on Monday, and we will definitely be
involved in this ministry which is just beginning in Cambodia, for
years to come…”
After ministry in Phnom Penh we traveled to Siem Reap about 4 hours
north. Here we evaluated the situation and spent some time praying
about bringing the MST Project to Siem Reap in the future.
At the end of our time in Cambodia we presented an assessment report
about what we learned to the anti-trafficking forum. We presented what
MST Project would look like and how it could be carried out in the
context and culture of Cambodia.
Thank you for your prayers while we were in Cambodia. We know that they were a critical part of our success!
