God taught me a lot about love and compassion while talking to this guy we met in a red-light district. We got to just relate to this guy and in the course of our conversation ask him about his past. He was an older European gentleman who has lived quite the life. He told us about the broken relationships in his past. He has had two wives, the first marriage lasted 10 years and his other wife left him for another man after 6 years of a happy marriage. It was just really sad to hear his views of women. I could tell that he has a broken trust of women, categorizing all women to be irrational and selfish.

These women he now visits in the red light district are the only women that he seems to want to invite into his life. The main reason being that they can't hurt him because he doesn't love them, he only sees them once and there is no emotional connection so there is no possibility for disappointment or hurt. It is a sad place to be in, but I pray that God will reveal His heart to him and that he would come to know a loving God that will never forsake him and that eventually God will restore his view of women. The conversation lasted about an hour and a half and it was evident he was enjoying our company and didn't really want to leave our presence because he kept bringing up random topics. He was just a lonely man seeking love and companionship and it was cool to be able to love on him as Jesus would and to help take his mind off of his loneliness even if for only a few hours.
